What is Gaistal?

Gaistal is a side valley of Leutasch in the Tyrolean Zugspitze region — quiet, car-free (toll road) and surrounded by the Wetterstein mountains. It is considered one of the last untouched high valleys of North Tyrol.

The valley is known for its staffed alpine huts offering traditional Tyrolean food with mountain views, as well as hikes to the Seebensee, the Wettersteinhütte and surrounding peaks.

Leutasch itself is a spacious holiday resort — Gaistal lies about 10 km from the village centre and is reachable by car or regular bus (line 431).
